Although their attempts to assassinate American President Harry Truman and British Foreign Minister Ernest Bevin failed, and plans to assassinate Winston Churchill remained theoretical, Shamir's group also introduced terrorist tactics such as car bombs and explosive attacks targeting innocent civilians, predating similar tactics employed by Arabs or Muslims. Similarly, Begin's larger and purportedly more moderate Zionist faction engaged in comparable actions.
